Ex-PDP Chieftain Ibrahim Hamza  Again Blasts Orogu Over “Divisive, Irresponsible” Remarks

By Our Reporter

A former Public Relations Officer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Hon. Ibrahim Hamza, has strongly criticized comments credited to the Acting North-Central PDP Chairman, Francis Orogu, describing them as “irresponsible, divisive, and damaging to the unity of Nasasarwa state.

In a strongly worded statement, Hon.Hamza expressed disappointment that Orogu chose “insults and baseless accusations” at a time when the PDP is grappling with internal discontent and struggling to survive in Nasarawa state and at the national level. According to him, Orogu’s labeling of former PDP members as “sell-outs” and “APC spies” reflects “political immaturity and a desperate attempt to mask his leadership failures.”

Hon. Hamza argued that party members do not abandon a functional and progressive political structure, insisting that the exodus from the PDP in Nasarawa State is a direct consequence of poor leadership, internal oppression, and what he described as the “hypocrisy entrenched in the party’s day-to-day operations.” He urged Orogu to examine his own actions rather than blame those who have left the party.

The former PRO also faulted Orogu’s alleged comments suggesting that only “natives of Nasarawa” should lead the state, calling such remarks “reckless ethnic chauvinism” that undermines the PDP’s founding principles. He maintained that leadership should be based on competence and character, not ethnic or religious considerations.

“If anybody is acting like a spy within the party,” Hon. Hamza noted, “it is those who exploit ethnicity, disseminate misinformation, and attack members who challenge ineffective leadership.” He warned that such actions threaten to deepen divisions and destabilize the state ahead of future political contests.

Hon. Hamza stressed that the PDP in Nasarawa cannot rebuild without confronting what he termed the “rot” created by leaders who refuse to accept responsibility for the party’s declining fortunes. He urged the security agencies to caution Orogu against doing anything inimical to the peaceful coexistence of Nasarawa citizens, adding that the people of Nasarawa deserve a governor with competence who has the interest of the state regardless of tribe and religion.
