The Adogi community in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State came alive on Sunday with vibrant colours, music and cultural displays as no fewer than 12 ethnic groups converged to celebrate peace, unity and coexistence at the Adogi Cultural Carnival.

The carnival drew a large gathering of traditional rulers, political leaders, youths and women’s groups, all of whom witnessed a rich showcase of cultural heritage. Dancers, drummers and cultural troupes from different tribes took turns displaying performances that symbolised tolerance, togetherness and mutual respect among the people.

Participants described the event as a remarkable turnaround for Adogi, an area that was once affected by security challenges but has now emerged as a beacon of peace and harmony. Many attributed this positive development to the improved security situation under the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

Speaking at the event, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu commended Governor Sule for prioritising the security and welfare of residents across Nasarawa State. He noted that the prevailing peace has made it possible for communities to gather freely and celebrate their cultural identities without fear.

The senator also praised the governor’s achievements in infrastructural development and the provision of social amenities, stressing that these interventions have improved the quality of life of the people and strengthened social cohesion across the state.

In addition, Senator Wadada expressed appreciation to the Emir of Lafia, His Royal Highness, Hon. Dr. Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed, JSC (Rtd), CFR, for his consistent leadership and commitment to strengthening the traditional institution. He said the Emir’s guidance has played a significant role in promoting peace, unity and the preservation of cultural values among the diverse ethnic groups in the state.

The Adogi Cultural Carnival ended on a high note, with participants reaffirming their commitment to peaceful coexistence and pledging continued support for government efforts aimed at sustaining security and development in Nasarawa State.
