The ancient town of Keana came alive with colour, culture, and history as the KEANA 2025 National Oyarore Salt Festival drew visitors from across the country. The annual festival, which celebrates the rich heritage and the economic importance of its famed salt deposits, showcased traditional music, dances, and cultural displays that highlight the pride of the people in their centuries-old traditions.
Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu sent a goodwill message to the people of Keana, praising them for preserving their cultural heritage and emphasizing the importance of the festival as a symbol of identity, resilience, and unity. In his message, Senator Wadada also called for greater support to leverage the cultural and economic potential of the festival to boost tourism and local development.
He reiterated his commitment to promoting initiatives that would attract investment, improve infrastructure, and create opportunities for youths, noting that culture remains a powerful driver of economic growth and social cohesion.
The festival, which attracted traditional rulers, political leaders, cultural troupes, and visitors from across Nigeria, ended on a high note, reaffirming Keana’s place as a cradle of culture and history and renewing hope for the continued recognition and development of its unique heritage.
