APC Nasarawa Adopts Consensus Model for Party Leadership Selection

The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, on Tuesday presided over an Expanded Stakeholders’ Meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held at the Government House Conference Hall, Lafia.
The high-level meeting brought together key political actors within the party, including former Governor of Nasarawa State and Senator, Abdullahi Adamu, members of the National and State Assemblies, serving and former political office holders, party executives, and critical stakeholders drawn from across the state.
The gathering was convened as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal democracy, foster unity, and chart a clear direction for the party ahead of forthcoming political activities. Deliberations focused on party cohesion, leadership structure, and mechanisms for ensuring stability at all levels of the APC in Nasarawa State.
At the conclusion of the meeting, stakeholders unanimously endorsed the adoption of the consensus method for the selection of party leadership, from the ward level through to the state level. The resolution was reached through collective agreement, reflecting what participants described as a shared commitment to peace, inclusiveness, and harmony within the party.
Speaking during the meeting, Governor Abdullahi Sule emphasized the importance of unity and mutual understanding among party members, noting that consensus remains a vital tool for strengthening the APC and ensuring sustainable political growth in the state. He commended stakeholders for placing the collective interest of the party above individual ambitions.
Former Governor Abdullahi Adamu and other speakers at the meeting also expressed support for the consensus approach, describing it as a practical and time-tested method capable of reducing internal conflicts and promoting cooperation among party members.
The adoption of the consensus model, stakeholders noted, is expected to enhance stability within the APC in Nasarawa State and position the party for continued electoral success.
The meeting ended on a note of unity, with participants reaffirming their loyalty to the party and their commitment to working together for the progress of Nasarawa State and the APC at large.
