Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has urged Nigerians to continually honour the sacrifices of the nation’s fallen heroes, describing their courage and patriotism as the bedrock of Nigeria’s unity and democratic existence.
In a statement issued to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the lawmaker paid glowing tribute to officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces who lost their lives in the line of duty while defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Sen. Wadada said the peace and freedom enjoyed by Nigerians today were made possible by the supreme sacrifice of gallant soldiers who placed national service above personal safety. According to him, their bravery and selflessness remain a constant reminder of the high price paid to keep Nigeria united.
The Senator also commended serving personnel of the Armed Forces currently deployed across various theatres of operation, confronting insecurity and protecting lives and property. He praised their resilience, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to duty, noting that their sacrifices continue to inspire hope for a safer and more secure nation.
He further extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of fallen heroes, particularly widows and dependents, praying for God’s comfort and strength for them in their time of loss. Sen. Wadada called on governments at all levels to sustain and strengthen welfare support for families of deceased servicemen and women, stressing that caring for them is a collective national responsibility.
The lawmaker urged Nigerians to use the occasion of the Remembrance Day to renew their commitment to peace, unity, and national cohesion, emphasizing that a united Nigeria remains the greatest honour to the memories of fallen heroes.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of departed servicemen and women and reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Their sacrifices must never be forgotten,” Sen. Wadada said, “as we continue to build a Nigeria worthy of their courage and dedication.”
