Federal University Of Lafia To Hold 2nd Induction And Oath-Taking Ceremony For Medical Laboratory Scientists

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) is set to host its 2nd Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony into the Medical Laboratory Science Profession on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, bringing together academics, professionals, students, and members of the general public for a landmark event in the university’s academic calendar.
The ceremony, scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., will take place at the MIS Multi-purpose Hall, Permanent Site Campus, Federal University of Lafia. Themed “Ethics, Professionalism and Responsibility in Medical Laboratory Practice,” the event underscores the critical role of ethical conduct and professional responsibility in strengthening healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, FNAAE, FHORTSON, FASI, Hon. FNSPS, FASN, will serve as the Chief Host of the occasion, reaffirming the university’s commitment to excellence in health sciences education and professional training.
Delivering the induction lecture is Hon. Garba Rosha Mohammed (MLS), Special Adviser to the Nasarawa State Governor on Environment and former Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. His lecture is expected to provide valuable insights into ethical standards and professional responsibilities within medical laboratory practice.
Other distinguished personalities expected at the ceremony include Dr. Donald Ofili, Acting Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), and Professor Aleruchi Chuku, Provost of the College of Health Sciences.
The event will be hosted by Professor S. A. Junaid, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science, who will preside over the formal induction and administration of the professional oath to the new inductees.
The ceremony is open to the general public and is expected to attract stakeholders from the health sector, academia, government, and professional bodies, as the university celebrates another milestone in the training of competent and ethically grounded medical laboratory scientists.
