Wadada Dismisses Withdrawal Rumours, Reaffirms 2027 Nasarawa Governorship Ambition

Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has firmly dismissed reports claiming he has withdrawn from the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship race, describing the speculation as false, misleading, and politically motivated.
In a statement issued on his behalf by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Sam Israel JP, the senator said he remains fully committed to the governorship contest and continues consultations across the state.
According to the statement, the alleged withdrawal report was circulated by unnamed sources without any direct quotation or verifiable evidence, a move described as a calculated attempt to misinform the public and create unnecessary political tension.
“Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has not withdrawn from the Nasarawa governorship race. He remains actively in the contest and is one of the strongest and most prepared aspirants to succeed Governor Abdullahi Sule,” the statement read.
The media aide noted that Senator Wadada’s political profile, which includes service in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, positions him as a credible and experienced contender with deep legislative knowledge and national exposure.
The statement further emphasized that the senator enjoys widespread grassroots support across Nasarawa West, North, and South senatorial districts, cutting across ethnic, religious, and generational lines. This growing acceptance, it claimed, has unsettled political opponents who lack comparable grassroots reach.
“Consultations are ongoing, political structures are solidifying, and engagements with key stakeholders continue daily. The claim that Senator Wadada has shelved his ambition does not reflect the reality on ground,” the statement added.
Addressing interpretations surrounding his advocacy for equity and balance in governance, the statement clarified that such positions should not be misconstrued as political withdrawal, but rather as evidence of mature leadership and commitment to inclusive governance.
The senator was described as a development-focused leader whose vision centres on unity, fairness, security, and economic growth for Nasarawa State.
As the 2027 election approaches, supporters were urged to remain focused and disregard what the statement described as “sponsored falsehoods,” while reiterating that Senator Wadada remains determined to pursue the governorship ambition.
“Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu is not retreating; he is advancing,” the statement concluded.
