APC To Welcome Defectors As Nasarawa Plans Mega Solidarity Rally For Tinubu, Sule

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State is set to formally receive defectors from opposition political parties as the state prepares to host a mega solidarity rally in appreciation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abdullahi Sule.
The rally, scheduled to hold on Thursday at the Lafia Square, will also serve as a platform to welcome national and state assembly members, as well as other well-meaning individuals who recently defected to the APC, citing the development strides of both the President and the Governor.
Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, SAN, disclosed this on Friday while presiding over a meeting with political appointees in Lafia. According to him, the event is expected to draw over 15,000 youths, women and men of goodwill from across the state, who will embark on a procession before converging for the rally.
Magaji explained that the solidarity rally was conceived to give the people of Nasarawa State an opportunity to openly express their gratitude to President Tinubu and Governor Sule for what he described as a “fantastic” performance in governance and development.
“Politics is about engagement and perception. Our people are really desirous of coming out to say thank you to the Governor and Mr President, but there has been no platform for that. This rally is meant to wake our people up and bring them together to express that appreciation,” he said.
The SGNS added that the rally would be led by high-profile party leaders, including the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside other prominent figures.
He further emphasized that the event would reinforce Nasarawa State’s support for the current administrations, noting that it would also send a clear message to opposition parties that the state remains firmly under APC control.
“The rally is also meant to show opposition political parties that Nasarawa State remains a no-go area,” Magaji stated.
Meanwhile, Magaji also revealed that Governor Abdullahi Sule has been selected to address the National Economic Council (NEC) at its two-day meeting scheduled to hold from Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He disclosed that Governor Sule will serve as a panelist during the meeting, which will be chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, where critical national economic issues will be discussed.
According to Magaji, the invitation extended to only a few state executives places Governor Sule at the forefront of national economic discourse and confirms his growing recognition as a key voice in Nigeria’s fiscal planning and development strategy.
The SGNS concluded by cautioning political appointees in the state against any acts capable of being misconstrued as disloyalty, urging them to remain committed to the ideals and leadership of the party.
