Wadada Flags Off Angwan Takwa–Moroa Road Project, Reaffirms Commitment to Rural Growth

In a move many residents describe as long overdue, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, has formally launched the rehabilitation of the 18-kilometre Angwan Takwa–Moroa road in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The project, which links several agrarian communities, is expected to significantly ease movement and stimulate economic activities across the area.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Senator Wadada said the road project represents both a fulfillment of his campaign promises and a response to the confidence reposed in him by constituents. He stressed that genuine rural development cannot be achieved without functional infrastructure, particularly road networks that connect farmers, traders, and rural dwellers to opportunities.
“Good roads are not a luxury for rural communities; they are a necessity,” the senator noted. “This road will reduce the hardship our farmers and traders face daily and ensure that agricultural produce can move easily from farms to markets. When that happens, incomes rise and the local economy grows.”
For years, residents of Angwan Takwa, Moroa, and neighboring communities have struggled with poor road conditions, especially during the rainy season, when transportation becomes nearly impossible. Farmers often incur losses as produce spoils before reaching markets, while traders face increased costs and delays. The rehabilitation of the road is therefore seen as a critical intervention that could transform livelihoods.
The event drew political leaders, community stakeholders, and party supporters from across the state. Presiding over the ceremony was former Governor of Nasarawa State and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who praised Senator Wadada’s resolve to deliver tangible projects to his people.
Senator Adamu described the road rehabilitation as a clear example of people-oriented leadership, noting that infrastructure projects of this nature have a direct and lasting impact on ordinary citizens. He commended the senator for prioritizing the needs of rural communities and translating promises into action.
Beyond infrastructure, Senator Adamu used the occasion to make a broader political appeal ahead of future electoral contests. He called on all gubernatorial aspirants from the Nasarawa West zone to maintain unity, mutual respect, and understanding, emphasizing that cohesion within the zone would be key to electoral success in the 2027 general elections.
“Unity is not optional if we want to win,” he said, urging political actors to place collective interest above personal ambition.
Community leaders and residents at the event expressed optimism that the road project would bring long-term benefits, including improved access to healthcare, education, and markets. Many also viewed the project as a signal of renewed attention to rural areas that are often left behind in development planning.
As construction begins on the Angwan Takwa–Moroa road, expectations are high that the project will not only improve transportation but also serve as a catalyst for broader socio-economic development in Kokona Local Government Area. For Senator Wadada, the initiative reinforces his message that sustainable development starts from the grassroots—and that rural communities deserve infrastructure that works.
