Ahmed Aliyu Wadada has congratulated Muslims and Christians in Nasarawa State on the commencement of the 2026 Ramadan fast and Lenten season, describing the coincidence of both spiritual exercises starting on the same day as a special blessing for the nation.
In a statement issued by his media office, Wadada extended warm felicitations to Muslims for witnessing the new month of Ramadan and successfully ushering in the 2026 fasting period. He also identified with the Christian community on the commencement of this year’s Lent, which marks the beginning of the 40-day fasting and prayer.
He described the simultaneous commencement of Ramadan and Lent as “beyond coincidence,” noting that it signifies greater blessings for the people of Nasarawa State and Nigeria at large. According to him, the period is special and significant for both Muslim and Christian faithful, and there is every need to appreciate God for the opportunity to witness the holy season.
Wadada called on residents of the state to use the period for sober reflection and to strengthen bonds of unity by identifying with one another during and beyond the fasting seasons.
He enjoined both Muslims and Christians to offer fervent prayers for leaders at all levels to succeed in their responsibilities, and to pray for the state and the country to overcome emerging challenges.
The lawmaker also appealed to well-to-do individuals to support the less privileged in society to enable them observe the fasting with ease, stressing the importance of charity and compassion during the holy period.
He urged believers to adhere strictly to the ethics and guiding principles of the spiritual exercises in order to reap the full rewards and blessings associated with them. Wadada further encouraged religious leaders to use the period to preach peace, unity and togetherness among their followers to promote an egalitarian society where development can thrive.
While wishing Muslims and Christians a successful 2026 Ramadan and Lenten season filled with abundant blessings, he called on the people of the state to continue to pray for and support Governor Abdullahi Sule and other leaders in delivering on their mandates.
