Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has declared that he does not have a single enemy among the governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC), pledging to work for whoever emerges as the party’s candidate ahead of the 2027 election.
Sule made the statement on Monday during a valedictory session with the outgoing State Working Committee of the APC at the Government House in Lafia. The executive members were led by the state Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello.
“I don’t have a single enemy, especially among the aspirants,” the governor said. “Every aspirant that is there, if God wants to give that aspirant power, that aspirant will become our own candidate. Once we have one of our aspirants as a candidate, as the Governor, I owe it upon myself to work for that candidate. That is the best that I can do. I want to finish and go without having any rancor here and there.”
The governor reiterated his commitment to fairness in the forthcoming APC governorship primary, stressing that his understanding of justice and equity would guide his decisions. While acknowledging that he has a preferred zone in mind, Sule maintained that he would ultimately accept the outcome of the process.
“I want to be fair based on my understanding of fairness. We will support a zone that I think it is fair to support. Anyone who does not like it is his own business. But if God says it is not what you think, Sule, I will say Alhamdulillah,” he stated.
Sule noted that the same principles adopted during the ward and local government congresses — including consensus building and rotation of positions — would also apply at the state level. He added that individuals who have served for eight years may have to step aside, though they could still contribute to the party in other capacities if stakeholders deem it fit.
He commended the outgoing state exco for their service and role in ensuring successful ward and local government congresses, expressing optimism ahead of the state congress.
“We have had successful ward and local government congresses, and I want to thank you, the party, for everything that you have done in order for us to get to where we are. I appreciate you, I commend you. Now, we are going into the state congress,” he said.
In his response, APC State Chairman Dr. Aliyu Bello thanked the governor for his support and described their tenure as rewarding.
“Your Excellency, my own is to thank you on behalf of all of us. We are 36 in number. The journey with you was so sweet, fantastic. All of us appreciate what you have done for us. Except if you are an ingrate,” Bello said, adding that members had witnessed improved allowances and patronage under the governor’s leadership.
As political activities intensify ahead of 2027, Sule’s repeated assurances of zoning, fairness, and unity are seen as efforts to maintain cohesion within the Nasarawa APC and ensure a rancor-free primary process.
