Nasarawa South Residents Hold Peaceful Rally Over Epileptic Power Supply

By Our Reporter
Residents of Nasarawa South on Monday staged a peaceful match in Lafia to protest what they described as persistent epileptic power supply in the area.
The demonstrators, drawn from various communities across the senatorial district, marched through major streets of Lafia carrying placards with inscriptions demanding improved electricity distribution and stable power supply. The protest remained orderly, with participants calling on authorities to urgently address the ongoing challenges affecting homes, businesses, and public institutions.
Speaking during the rally, some community leaders expressed frustration over prolonged outages and irregular power supply, which they said have negatively impacted small-scale businesses, healthcare services, and students preparing for examinations. They noted that residents have continued to pay electricity bills despite poor service delivery.
“We are law-abiding citizens. All we ask for is steady and reliable electricity to support our livelihoods,” one of the organizers said, emphasizing that the protest was aimed at drawing government attention rather than causing disruption.
Security personnel were reportedly on ground to ensure the protest remained peaceful, while traffic flow was minimally affected as marchers moved in an organized manner.
The protesters called on relevant government agencies and electricity distribution companies to intervene swiftly and provide a clear plan to improve power supply across Nasarawa South.
As of the time of filing this report, there had been no official response from AEDC regarding the concerns raised during the peaceful match.
