A public appeal has been made to citizens across Northern Nigeria to actively participate in the upcoming elections by obtaining their voter cards and using their votes to influence the future of the region.
In a statement titled “Northern Nigeria’s Defining Moment: Claim Your Voice, Secure Your Future,” Rabi’u Garba Sufyan called on residents of the region not to allow insecurity, displacement, or frustration to discourage them from exercising their democratic rights.
The message highlights the ongoing security challenges and displacement affecting parts of Northern Nigeria, describing them as a reminder of the need for stronger civic engagement and collective action in determining the region’s political direction.
Sufyan emphasized that obtaining a voter card is a critical first step toward reclaiming citizens’ influence in governance. He urged eligible voters to mobilize their families and communities to register and participate in the electoral process despite the prevailing challenges.
According to the statement, the upcoming election presents an opportunity for voters to elect leaders who can address key issues affecting the region. These include improving security, stimulating economic development, creating jobs, expanding access to education and healthcare, and promoting unity and reconciliation among communities.
The appeal also stresses the importance of civic responsibility, encouraging citizens not to give up on their right to vote but to use it as a tool for change and development.
Sufyan concluded by urging Northern Nigerians to stand together to break what he described as a cycle of marginalization and underdevelopment, emphasizing that collective participation in the electoral process could help shape a better future for the region and the country as a whole.
The statement ends with a call for voters to obtain their voter cards, mobilize others, and participate fully in the elections in pursuit of “a better Northern Nigeria and a stronger Nigeria.”
