The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Aliyu Bello, has said that “every right-thinking person” should support the zoning arrangement in the state, stressing that the position reflects the wishes of the people and the stance of the party leadership.
Bello made the remark while speaking about the party’s internal arrangements and the growing support base of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
According to him, the party’s acceptance among residents is evident in the outcome of its recent electronic membership registration exercise conducted earlier this year.
“So, the wishes of the people are what matter very much, and that is why the APC embarked on the e-registration in January this year,” Bello said.
He explained that the exercise recorded significant participation in Nasarawa State, with more than 250,000 members successfully registered along with their names and voter’s card details.
“In Nasarawa State, we were able to have over 250,000 registered members with their names and voter’s cards. This shows the kind of acceptability we are enjoying in Nasarawa State,” he said.
The APC chairman also defended the position of the state governor on the zoning arrangement, noting that the governor was simply maintaining an existing political structure rather than creating a new one.
“The governor is standing on the precedent that he met on the ground. He didn’t create it; he met it, and he wants to continue with that,” Bello stated.
He added that the party leadership in the state is fully backing the governor’s stance on zoning.
“So, nobody will fault him. And we, as a party, are giving him a hundred percent support. He believes in zoning; we also believe in what he said,” he said.
Bello maintained that the position aligns with the expectations of the people and should be widely supported by stakeholders across the state.
