Money Alone Cannot Buy Nasarawa Governorship – Sulaiman

By Our Reporter
A former Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Scholarship Board, Dr. Sulaiman Abdulwahab Sulaiman, has said that wealth alone cannot determine who becomes the next governor of Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Sulaiman made the assertion in a statement in which he emphasized that leadership in the state must be earned through service, credibility and respect for party structures rather than financial strength.
According to him, politics is a strategic process driven by vision, patience and commitment to the people, not merely a contest of financial resources.
He said the political history of Nasarawa State shows that money cannot create loyalty, credibility or the leadership qualities required to govern effectively.
“The people of Nasarawa State respect leaders who have consistently demonstrated competence, commitment to service and the ability to translate influence into tangible development that benefits ordinary citizens,” he said.
Sulaiman warned aspirants who believe financial power can secure political leadership to reconsider their approach, noting that the people and party structures ultimately determine leadership.
He added that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has remained strong because of institutional stability, inclusive leadership and strategic planning rather than the influence of wealthy individuals.
He further stressed that those seeking leadership positions must respect the established structures of the party and demonstrate dedication to service.
According to him, Nasarawa State is guided by principles, discipline and accountability, and not a place where political power can be bought.
Sulaiman also stated that aspirants who attempt to impose themselves without building grassroots support, respecting party leadership and earning political credibility may find it difficult to succeed within the party.
He said patience, strong alliances and commitment to party values remain the true factors that determine political success.
“As Nasarawa approaches the 2027 elections, the APC remains united behind a candidate whose vision, service record and respect for principles outweigh financial influence,” he said.
He concluded that the party would continue to uphold unity, zoning arrangements and service as key determinants of its political processes.
Sulaiman reiterated that in Nasarawa State, leadership is earned through dedication and integrity rather than financial power.
