APC North Central Unanimously Backs Tinubu for 2027, Aliyu Bello Tasks Party Officials on Electoral Victories

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Aliyu Bello, has charged newly elected party executives in the North Central Zone to justify their emergence by delivering electoral victories across all levels in 2027.
Bello gave the charge on Wednesday at the APC North Central Zonal Congress held in Lafia, where stakeholders from across the zone unanimously adopted President Bola Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
“You are no more delegates. You are party managers and administrators,” Bello told the newly elected officials. “If you accept to manage the party, you must go back and mobilise and win elections—from your wards to local governments. Otherwise, you are not fit to be party officials.”
The congress, held at the Government House in Lafia, Nasarawa State, brought together governors, lawmakers, ministers, and grassroots delegates from across the North Central region.
The motion to adopt Tinubu for a second term was formally moved by Secretary to the Government of the Federation and former Senator, George Akume, and seconded by Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, who also chairs the North Central Governors Forum.
Governor Sule attributed the governors’ support for Tinubu’s re-election bid to the administration’s economic reforms, noting that some states had been able to execute projects without resorting to borrowing.
“As a result of the reforms of President Tinubu, some of us have carried out our responsibilities without borrowing a penny,” Sule said while seconding the motion.
He also highlighted the growing strength of the APC nationwide, revealing that the party now boasts 31 governors, a development he credited to the performance of the Tinubu administration.
Speaking earlier, Akume emphasized the strategic importance of the North Central to the APC, noting that the party controls all states in the zone. He urged members not to be complacent ahead of the 2027 elections.
“You can win elections, but you must work and sweat as though you are contesting against your strongest opponent,” he said.
Also addressing the gathering, former APC National Chairman and ex-governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu, commended the peaceful conduct of the congress and called for unity among party members ahead of future elections.
The APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, who was represented by Deputy National Secretary Abdulkarim Kana, praised the North Central Zone for its loyalty to the party and the Tinubu administration. He urged the newly elected executives to build inclusivity and expand the party’s base.
The congress also produced new zonal executives through a consensus process affirmed by voice vote, in line with procedures adopted at earlier stages of the party’s congresses nationwide.
The event concluded with a call for unity and mobilisation ahead of the APC National Convention scheduled to hold in Abuja later this week.
