Hon. Ibrahim Hamza Slams Ombugadu Over “Inconsistent Politics,” Questions His Leadership Credibility

A political controversy has erupted following strong criticism from Hon. Ibrahim Hamza, who publicly berated Hon. David Ombugadu over what he described as “blatant inconsistency and opportunistic politics.”
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Nasarawa Eye in Lafia on Tuesday Hon. Hamza who was a former PDP scribe in Nasarawa state accused Ombugadu of engaging in what he termed “political jumping,” alleging that he moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and then back to the PDP within a span of just three weeks.
According to Hon. Hamza, who also defected to APC early last year, such Ombugadu’s actions raise serious concerns about his credibility and commitment to public service. “This kind of inconsistency shows clearly that he is not a man that can be trusted with any leadership position,” he said. “Leadership requires stability, conviction, and loyalty to the people—not personal ambition.”
Hon Hamza further alleged that Ombugadu’s political decisions appear to be driven solely by self-interest rather than the welfare of his constituents. “His politics is about servicing his own interest, not the interest of the people he claims to represent,” he added.
The remarks have sparked mixed reactions among political observers, with some echoing Hon. Hamza’s concerns about party loyalty and ideological consistency, while others argue that party defections are not uncommon in Nigeria’s political landscape.
However, Hon. Hamza maintained a hardline stance, insisting that figures exhibiting Ombugadu’s behavior should be distanced from public office. “The kind of Ombugadu must be thrown out of politics. They should not come near it if we are serious about progress and accountability,” he concluded.
