The Lies Against Gov. Sule

By Rayyanu Bala
The good people of Nasarawa State woke up yesterday morning to a disturbing but wicked piece of information, allegedly cooked up by unscrupulous elements, claiming that Governor Abdullahi Sule held a clandestine meeting with Atiku Abubakar in Saudi Arabia to plot against Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This latest round of political propaganda is not only laughable, but it also reveals the level of desperation among those who do not wish Nasarawa State well.
The narrative that Governor Sule held a clandestine meeting with Atiku Abubakar bears all the hallmarks of a tired political smear campaign. It is built on conjecture, fueled by mischief, and designed solely to sow distrust where none exists. It is worth restating that Governor Sule has, time and again, demonstrated his unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu. His political alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda is neither ambiguous nor negotiable. To suggest that Governor Sule would secretly conspire against the very administration he openly supports is an insult to both logic and public intelligence.
Governor Sule is not a political novice who shifts with the wind. His track record reflects discipline and a clear direction of total and unflinching support for President Tinubu. At the North Central Zonal congress of the APC in Lafia, held at Aliyu Akwe Banquet hall government house, Governor Sule demonstrated his loyalty by supporting the motion endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the second term. He has stood firmly within the political structure that brought President Tinubu to power in 2023, and he will continue to stand firmly in support of his second term.
Governor Sule has never shown any indication—public or private—that he intends to deviate from the path of President Tinubu. Loyalty in politics, as we are all aware, is tested in moments of uncertainty, and the current political environment is not one of those moments. Governor Sule has given no reason for doubt.
What we are witnessing, however, is a classic case of political mudslinging. With 2027 already casting its shadow, certain actors who have nothing to offer have resorted to planting seeds of discord within established alliances. By dragging Sule’s name into a fabricated conspiracy involving Atiku Abubakar, these actors hope to weaken internal cohesion and distract attention from real governance issues.
Moreover, the choice of Saudi Arabia as the supposed venue for such fabricated claims adds a layer of cynical opportunism. A place of spiritual reflection is being weaponized for political fiction. That alone should raise red flags about the credibility of the allegation.
If anything, these fabricated lies reveal more about the desperation of those spreading them than they do about Governor Sule. Unable to challenge his record or question his commitment with facts, they have resorted to fiction. But Nigerians are not so easily misled.
Governor Abdullahi Sule’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is solid, visible, and unshakable. No amount of rumor-mongering can rewrite that reality. These allegations should be dismissed for what they are: a calculated attempt to tarnish a reputation that remains firmly intact.
