A seasoned legal practitioner and long-time political aspirant, Barrister Usman Lamus, has reaffirmed his ambition to represent Wamba Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 elections.
Lamus, who holds an LL.B, LL.M, and BL, with a PhD in view, is no stranger to the political landscape. His journey dates back to 1989, even before the creation of Nasarawa State, marking decades of persistence in his quest for legislative representation.
Over the years, he has pursued his ambition under multiple political platforms, including the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1991, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2007, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015. He has once again declared his intention to contest under the APC in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Beyond politics, Lamus boasts an extensive professional background in both legal practice and public service. He previously served as Deputy Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Council between 1991 and 1993. He later worked as Principal State Counsel at the Ministry of Justice from 1998 to 2006, and subsequently as Assistant General Manager at the Nasarawa Urban Development Board (NUDB) from 2008 to 2019.
His contributions to professional bodies are also notable. Lamus has served as Secretary General of the Nigerian Bar Association in Nasarawa State and as former Legal Adviser to the Senior Staff Association in the state, among other roles.
Describing his long-standing political pursuit as a “struggle,” Lamus emphasized his unwavering commitment to public service. “While struggle is my manner, an opportunity to serve the good people of Wamba Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly is my desire—and it is now,” he declared.
As the 2027 elections approach, Lamus’s declaration adds to the growing political activity in Nasarawa State, with constituents expected to closely watch the unfolding race for legislative representation.
