The Senator representing Nasarawa West, Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, has strongly condemned the recent communal clashes in Odeni Gida, Akyewa, and Angwan Ogiri, describing the incidents as a serious threat to peace and unity in the constituency.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Lafia, Senator Wadada expressed deep concern over the violence, noting that the clashes have resulted in tension, destruction of property, and disruption of normal life in the affected communities.
He described the development as “deeply troubling” and a major setback to the longstanding efforts toward peaceful coexistence among residents of Nasarawa West. According to him, such conflicts not only endanger lives but also hinder socio-economic progress and development in the area.
The senator called on all parties involved to immediately lay down their grievances and embrace dialogue, tolerance, and mutual understanding as the only viable path to lasting peace.
“It is only through sincere engagement and respect for one another that we can rebuild trust and restore harmony in our communities,” he said.
Senator Wadada also urged traditional leaders, community stakeholders, and youths to take active roles in promoting peace and preventing further escalation of the crisis. He further called on security agencies to remain vigilant and proactive in protecting lives and property while maintaining law and order.
Reaffirming his commitment to the well-being of his constituents, Senator Wadada pledged continued support for all efforts aimed at restoring calm and fostering unity across Nasarawa West.
He also appealed to residents to remain law-abiding, avoid actions capable of inciting further unrest, and work collectively in the interest of peace and development in the region.
