
Lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly have reaffirmed their support for the party leadership at all levels, pledging loyalty, unity, and cooperation ahead of the forthcoming primary elections.
The position was made known by the Majority Leader of the House, Suleiman Yakubu Azara, while briefing journalists after the APC lawmakers’ 10th caucus meeting held at the Assembly complex in Lafia on Wednesday.
Azara said the meeting also reviewed the recently concluded ward, local government, state, and national congresses of the party, with lawmakers expressing satisfaction over the conduct of the exercises. He described the processes as peaceful, transparent, and successful.
He congratulated party leaders who emerged at various levels, including the national and state chairmen, noting that the congresses recorded significant success across the state.
The caucus meeting was attended by the Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, his Deputy, Muhammad Adamu Oyanki, and other APC lawmakers.
According to Azara, the lawmakers also used the meeting to strategize ahead of the party’s forthcoming primary elections, expected to commence later this month and extend into the next. He said the caucus aligned itself with decisions taken by party leaders and stakeholders regarding the mode of primaries.
“We have discussed a range of issues involving unity, peace, and progress of the party. We, as lawmakers, are united and will remain loyal to the party in the state,” Azara said.
He emphasized that the lawmakers are committed to maintaining unity and working closely with party leadership to ensure success in future elections, including the 2027 general elections.
The Majority Leader further disclosed that the caucus resolved to strengthen engagement with party stakeholders across constituencies to ensure cohesion and electoral victory. He added that the lawmakers plan to visit the state governor, party chairman, and other key stakeholders ahead of the primaries.
Azara also reiterated the lawmakers’ commitment to teamwork and collaboration with the executive arm of government to promote development in the state.
“We will continue to work in unity and synergize with stakeholders and government for the progress of the state,” he said.
