5th Year Anniversary: LOSA Honours Emir Of Lafia, HRH, Justice Sidi Bage,  Nat’l President Targets N1bn Infrastructure Fund For Alma Mater

By Abdul- Aziz Abu Ahmed.                                         It was a memorable day in Lafia, as members of Lafia Old Students Association (LOSA) holds reception in honour of HRH, Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I (JSC rtd), CFR, the Emir of Lafian Bare-Bari, and Chairman, Nasarawa State Council of Chiefs, as the royal father clocks five years on the throne.

The event took place on Friday 3rd May, 2024, at Government Science School Lafia, the Alma Mater of His Royal Majesty, as part of events commemorating the fifth year anniversary of the Emir of Lafia.

The Royal Father graduated from the Government Science School Lafia in 1974.

The hall was filled to capacity, as class mates of the Emir (Set 1974), and others, from wide and near, graced the occasion.

In his welcome address, the Sole Administrator of GSS Lafia, Mal. Abubakar Ibrahim Ewa Kana, while expressing gratitude to the former students for their immense contributions to the development of the school, however, appealed to them to help equip the laboratories to enhance science and technical education of the students. He also called on the Nasarawa State Government to post qualified science teachers to the school.

Also speaking, former Secretary to Nasarawa State Government, Mr. Timothy Anjide, who spoke on behalf of the Emir’s classmates, thanked the Association under the leadership of Dr. Faisal Shuiabu, for organizing such an eventful day. He appealed to the Exco to renovate and donate 2 halls to serve as Secretariat of LOSA, as well as a Legacy Building of the Association.

He also announced the donation of 2 laptops computers to the school.

Speaking on behalf of other Exco members, National President of the Association, Dr. Faisal Shuiab, immediate DG of National Primary Health Care Development Agency, thanked all for honouring the invitation.

He said the Association was targeting the sum of N1 billion to support infrastructural development for the renovation and upliftment of Government Science School Lafia.

Dr. Faisal added that the Association had recently raised N100 million, at a launching held at Lagos State, all in support of the school.

He said that the Association had already constructed and equipped a modern clinic for the school and had also intervened in so many areas.

He said LOSA would offset the N350,000 being owed the school, adding that plans are in the offing for the construction of a Computer- Based-Test Centre in the school.

He explained that the support were part of measures to improve the educational standard of the school, as well as welfare of staff and students.

He therefore on behalf of the association congratulated the Emir of Lafia on his fifth anniversary on the throne and wished him good health and long life.

On his part, Justice Sidi Bage-Muhammad I (JSC rtd CFR, expressed gratitude to their former teachers for the roles they had played in modeling them to be what they were today.

The Emir also urged the students of the school to be hardworking in their studies as according to him the only way to success is hard work.

The Emir of Lafia used the occasion to announce the donation of N5 million to the school to equip the science and technical laboratories and promised to mobilize support in that direction.

He informed the gathering that his close ally, the Andoma of Doma, Alh. Ahmadu Ogah Onawo has joined the LOSA Family.

While speaking, the Emir showered praises on Dr. Faisal’s outstanding contributions to LOSA in particular, and Nasarawa State in general.

He called on other members of the Association to be hopeful in meeting their aspirations, just as he prayed for the soul of the deceased members of LOSA.

Climax of the event was donations of gifts and group photographs with different sets under LOSA.
