Th one-day state visit by the President and Commander in Chief of the
Nigerian Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari to Nasarawa state which
commences today could not have come at a better time than now.
We in Nasarawa Eye view the visit by the President as home coming
considering the fact that the people of the state always view Buhari
as one of their own, hence Nasarawa state served, going by his own
admission, as his ‘political laboratory’.
When virtually other states turned their back on him in the 2011
general elections, Nasarawa state citizens, against all odds, cast
their votes for him thus, delivering the state to the Congress for
Progressives Change, a party he single handedly formed.
The choice of the Congress for Progressives change by the people of
Nasarawa state in 2011, was neither a mistake nor misplaced as since
assumption of office of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura, the people of
the state have been harvesting bountiful democratic benefits which
they had never gotten before the advent of Buhari’s Congress for
Progressives Change.
The developmental templates of the CPC now APC, which Governor Umaru
Al-makura is judiciously implementing in the state, is impacting
tremendously and on the lives of the people of the state.
The edifices now adorning virtually all our cities and towns as well
as other infrastructural developments, part of which Mr. President is
commissioning and/ or lying foundations for today, are all to the
glory of CPC now APC and by extension, President Muhammadu Buhari.
It is instructive to note that the administration of Governor Umaru
Tanko Al-makura since its inception has been championing the cause of
peace and unity of our people; despite the distractions caused by some
elements in its first tenure, the Al-makura led administration
remains not only focused but consistent in its resolve to move the
state to an enviable height.
While we commend Governor Al-makura for the giant strides in virtually
all the sectors of the state economy, we also wish to thank President
Muhammadu Buhari for finding time to be with us in Nasarawa state for
two days. This singular act has indeed, demonstrated the fact that he
has not forgotten us in the state, which we consider as his second
home.
At this juncture, we in Nasarawa Eye wish to express our total support
for President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption, his
economic diversification efforts as well his well thought out plans to
eradicate crimes and criminality in Nigeria.
We also urge Mr. President not to be distracted by the antics of some
select few who have either by an act of commission or omission,
decided to close their eyes and ears to the achievements recorded thus
far by government at the centre.
Nasarawa Eye believes that should Mr President decide to throw his hat
into the ring again for a second term, the people of Nasarawa state
will, as usual, throw their weight behind him, come rain come shine.
