The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs Ekaro Comfort C. has assured of the ministry’s resolve to complete Farin Ruwa Water project as well as construction of a dam.
Similarly, she said the delay in take off of the project was caused by the desire of the ministry to get a qualified and reliable contractor that can deliver on the contract mandate. Mrs Ekaro gave the assurance when Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule visited the ministry in Abuja, Tuesday.
She stated that the ministry has gone far on the issue of funding the project and announced the project which was adequately captured in the twenty-ninetheen budget. While indicating that the project has been a priority of the ministry even before the past Minister left also added that the technical people of the ministry and that of the state will meet to ensure the success of the project which if completed will boost agricultural activities in the state and country at large.
Speaking earlier, Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule thanked the ministry for taking over the Farin Ruwa water project as well as its commitment to the actualisation of the project.
The Governor said all demands on the part of the state government have been met except for the physical handover which will be done in no distant time.
Engineer Abdullahi Sule maintained that compensations have been paid to land owners, saying the project will go a long way in enhancing irrigation farming in the state.
