Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, Executive Governor of Nasarawa state will be 100 days in office having assumed the mantle of leadership of the state on 29th May 2019.
Against the usual norm and tradition, His Excellency Engineer Abdullahi A.Sule made it known to the entire people of Nasarawa state openly what his set goals and targets to achieve within 100 days in office.
Even though, celebration of 100 days in office by chief executives mostly at federal and state level has been rooted and often celebrated amidst fanfare, what makes a difference in the case of Engr. Abdullahi A Sule was his public pronouncement on what he intend to achieve within the period, a commitment he is having sleepless nights to keep a date with for the sake of the people of Nasarawa state.
The way and manner the Governor is up and doing to touch the lives of citizens he swore to serve is gradually eroding the mindsets of many that politicians in their totality do not keep to their promise. One could recall with nostalgia the emphatic pronouncement by the Governor on the day of his swearing – in where he categorically stated that he cannot promise what he would not accomplished and ended with prayers to Allah to guide him aright.
As a team player in the dispensation under His Excellencency, so far so good, one could walk with his head high up such that even at market square should any opponent taps my shoulder or woke me from sleep to give account of the journey so far, I will have ready- made response not from the throat but right on my tongue as response coming from the throat often suffered delay.
The popular APC adage in the state ‘SEING IS BELIEVING reigns and to every fair minded citizen there are glaring evidences that better days are ahead for the people of Nasarawa state. The score cards are visible and impactful. They include but not limited to:
√ Empowering the less privileged cutting across gender with sewing and grinding machines few hours after assumption of office on 29th May 2019.
√ Provision of free eye care service to the needy in the three geopolitical zones in the state.
√ The ongoing installation of 2 kilometer solar powered street lights in all the 13 local government headquarters.
√ Proposed massive construction /renovations/rehabilitation of primary schools across the state.
√ Restoration of 100 percent Pension for State and Local Government retirees.
√ Support for the granting of financial autonomy to Local Government councils.
√ Continuation of all projects currently ongoing in Lafia the state capital and other local governments
√ Ongoing payment of Bursary allowances to Nasarawa state students in tertiary institutions in the Country.
√ Personal intervention effort to save lives in hospitals among others.
It is to the joy of all that the Governor, taken advantage of his background as an Industrialist is gradually showcasing the state to investors especially in the mining sector giving us a Ray of hope that our vast mineral resources untapped for decades would be harness to enhance our economic status and job creation for our teeming graduates.
In all fairness, 100 days in office is too short a period to assess any administration but one could say so far so good while being hopeful that more dividends of democracy await us at one year in office and shall ‘ EXCEED ALL EXPECTATIONS’.
May Allah bless our leaders and we the followers.
