Adamu, -Omadefu (APC-Keana) made the call when the state Commissioner for Information, Comrade Do Shammah and the General Manager, Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS) Barrister Yusuf Musa defended their 2020 budgets at the state Assembly today.
“There is the need for information managers, especially media executives and those saddled with information gathering and dissemination to be more proactive and guard against fake news,” he said
Adamu- Omadedu expressed satisfaction with the explanation on 2020 budget both the Information ministry and NBS while urged the Commissioner and the general manager to ensure that government activities are adequately publicized.
The Chairman stated the committee’s readiness to do justice to budgets for the overall peace and progress of the state.
Earlier, the state Commissioner for Information, Comrade Dogo Shammah appreciated the committee for always giving attention to the ministry.
The commissioner commended the working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government in the state.
He noted that it has given room for speedy development and called for its sustenance.
The commissioner assured of continued commitment to boost tourism, cultural heritage in order to expand the revenue revenue base of the government and for the overall development of the state.
On his part, the General Manager of NBS, Barrister Yusuf Musa, who gave a break down of the station’s 2020 budget, revealed that lack of the Outside Broadcast (OB) Van and other equipment are the major challenges facing the station that need urgent attention.
