COVID-19: NSSG Quarantine 100 Returning Almajirai From Bauchi

Nasarawa State Government has quarantined about 100 returning Alamjirai who are indigenes of the state but studying the Qur’an in Bauchi State.Addressing the returnee Almajirai at the Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, assured them that they will rejoin their parents after it is clear they are not infected by the coronavirus.Engineer Sule disclosed that already, their samples have been taken, with the results being awaited.He equally assured them of proper feeding while government contacts their parents pending their release.The Governor pointed out the decision to return the Almajirai to their states of origin was a collective decision of the Northern Governors and that it was meant to return the children to their parents for proper care.Engineer Sule said the gesture has become even more imperative with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which have further exposed the almajiri to more dangers.The Governor directed officials at the quarantine centre to ensure that the returnees are well fed, putting into consideration that most of them are also fasting.He advised the returnees to bear with the measures put in place to protect the centre, especially the constant use of face masks.Engineer Sule further assured them that Government has no intention of keeping them isolated longer than necessary but that the measures were taken to protect them, as well as members of their families.He expressed willingness to locate their parents and to link them together so that they can be properly taken care of.The Governor added that their traditional rulers will be invited to assist in linking the children with their parents.The about 100 returning Alamjirai are mostly from Lafia, Assakio and Awe.
