The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development Hon. Halima Ahmadu Jabiru has called on security agents in the state to be hard on perpetrators of rape and other gender base violence in the state in order to serve as deterrent to others. The Commissioner stated this today when she led women and other civil society organizations on a peaceful procession from her ministry to the Ministry of Justice, office of the Chief Judge and Police Headquarter all in Lafia.
Jabiru who frowned at the incessant rape cases in recent time in the state said, the state Ministry of Justice, the state Chief Judge and the Police must all raise up to the challenges and face the menace squarely.
Women were seen with placards with different inscription such as “Enough is Enough, leave our daughters alone”, “Justice for Rape Victims”, “We Demand Dead Sentence for Rapists”, Justice Delayed is Justice Denied” among other inscriptions.
