Eid-el-kabir: Gov Sule Tasks Muslims On Brotherliness

As Muslims all over the world mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has tasked faithful in the state on the need to imbibe the spirit of selflessness, brotherliness and sacrifice that symbolizes the Sallah.Engineer Sule gave the task in a Sallah message to the people of the state, personally signed by the Governor, on Thursday.While congratulating the Muslims on the celebration, the Governor enjoined the faithful to see the Eid-el-Kabir as a test, in commemoration of the total submission by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to the call for sacrifice.”This, indeed, symbolizes a call to all Muslims to live a life of selflessness, brotherhood, sacrifice and adherence to Allah’s commands,” Engineer Sule stated.The Governor pointed out that occasions such as this, calls for all Muslims to reflect on their relationship with God, as well as fellow human beings, as a guide for righteous living, love and peaceful co-existence in the society.Engineer Sule further urged the faithful to continue to preach peace, show love, understanding, tolerance and good neighbourliness.He used the opportunity to draw the attention of the Muslim faithful on the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, stressing the need to adhere to all preventive measures such as maintenance of social distancing, wearing of face mask, regular hand sanitizing, amongst others.The Governor equally assured Nigerians from other parts of the country residing in the state that Nasarawa is a cosmopolitan society that accommodates everybody irrespective of tribe, region, religion or any other creed for that matter.Part of the Governor’s Sallah message reads:”On the occasion of this Sallah celebration, I beseech you all to re-affirm your obedience to Allah’s injunctions as contained in the noble Qur’an and follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).”It is also an obligation on us to pray for our leaders at all levels to govern with the fear of God and the virtues of justice, humility and service for the good of humanity. The season also calls for greater vigilance to ensure a safe neighbourhood for harmonious co-existence.”Let me also use this special occasion to call on my dear people of Nasarawa State to continue to accommodate each other’s beliefs and values in order to sustain peace, harmony, socio-cultural and economic prosperity.”In this regard, I assure our brothers from other regions of the country that Nasarawa State is a cosmopolitan society that accommodates everybody irrespective of tribe, region, religion or any other creed for that matter. I, therefore, call on all and sundry to remain law abiding as you go about in pursuit of their lawful means of livelihood.”
