The State Working Committee of the APC, Nasarawa State has observed with regret the emergence of many support groups within the party aimed at pursuing varied Interest. According to a press statement personally signed by the chairman of the party Mr Phillips Tatari Shekwo stressed that these support groups have different appellations and are seemingly operating at cross purposes with the ideals, objectives and spirit of the party.
‘While appreciating the zeal and enthusiasm of its teeming supporters in promoting its ideals and popularity, we appeal that support for the party should be demonstrated with a sense of togetherness and decorum’
‘In this regard, all the support groups should formalize their existence by registering with the party in the state’ Shekwo further stressed.
‘Meanwhile, the party wishes to call and appeal to its teeming members and supporters to avoid behaviours that may likely promote unnecessary rivalry among its elected representatives, and party chieftains in the state’
Shekwo further stressed the concerned of the party on the emergence of these sub-support groups within the party, adding the group may possibly distract our elected representatives from fulfilling their mandate to people of the state in general.
While calling on all APC teeming members to organize their support with the aim and objective of promoting the popularity of the party rather than that of individuals within the party, Shekwo urged for unity to ensure the development of all APC members as one indivisible family, saying ‘It is by so doing that the APC will grow from strength to strength and remain the leading party in the state’
