Gov. Sule Calls For Peace, Unity As Nasarawa First Lady, IGP’s Wife Gets Traditional Titles In Lafia

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has reiterated the significance of the people of the state leaving together in peace and unity.

Engineer Sule used the opportunity of the reception organized in honour of his wife, the Nasarawa State First Lady, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule and the wife of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on Saturday, to urge the people of the state to continue to live in peace with one another.

According to the Governor, it was because of the prevailing atmosphere of peace that guests were able to come together to share in the joys of the celebrants.

“It’s important for the people of Nasarawa State to continue to live in peace with one another, to continue to respect our elders and to continue to respect our leaders,” Engineer Sule said.

While thanking the Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage (rtd), for the honour done to his wife and the wife of the IGP, the Governor called on the celebrants to consider their elevation as a call to serve the people like those before them who served the people diligently.

Engineer Sule showed appreciation to all those that attended the ceremony.

In a goodwill message, wife of the immediate past governor of the state, Hajiya Salamatu Al-makura, wished the celebrants God’s guidance as they assume their new roles.

Earlier, in a welcome address, former Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Dr. Zainab Ahmed, said the event was put in place in honour of the two celebrants that were earlier on elevated by the Emir of Lafia.

Dr. Zainab pointed out that the high number of women that turned out to witness the event, is a testimony to the fact that women in Nasarawa State are united and will always come together for a purpose.

The Late Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall inside the Government House was filled to capacity as family members, friends, colleagues, associates and well-wishers, turn out in large numbers, to join the two celebrants as they celebrate their new titles.

Recall that earlier, the Nasarawa First Lady and the wife of the IGP were both turbaned the “Giwan Matan Nasarawa” and “ Hasken Matan Nasarawa” respectively by the Emir of Lafia.

Performing the ceremony, HRH Justice Sidi Bage, said the conferment was in recognition of their contributions to the wellbeing of women.

Those who attended the reception ceremony include, the wife of the Governor, Hajiya Farida Abdullahi Sule, wife of the State Deputy Governor, wives of former governors Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura.

Others are, wives of the Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, wives of members of the state executive council, wife of former NSHA Speaker, Hon. Musa Ahmed Mohammed, among others.
