NSHA Assures Executive Arm Of Good Working Relationship To Boost Economy, Security
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has assured the executive arm of government of an effective collaboration and good working relationship in order to boost economy, protect the lives and property of the people and enhance development in the state.
Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House gave the assurance on Wednesday in Lafia while making a remark during The summit of Arms with the theme ” Examining the role of the Arms of Government on the Security and Economy of Nasarawa State” organised by the state government.
He said that good working relationship between the arms of government would not only boost economy but would also ensure peace and security of the state.
” I am indeed grateful to His Excellency for his kind invitation to me and other members.
” As the primary objective of government is to protect the lives and property as well as the welfare of its citizens.
” We will partner and collaborate with the executive arm in order to boost economy and security of the state,” he said.
He said that the House would continue to make good laws for the peace, security and order for the development of the state.
” The House has been mandated by the constitution to embark on oversight function as this current Assembly was inaugurated on 10th of June, 2019.
” I want to clarify some issues, the first issue is the issue of the former SSG, the issue came up as a result of the oversight function embarked upon by the Education Committee. The former SSG was invited, he appeared and the House took its decision after thorough investigation on the allegation levelled against him.
” The second issue is that of the Chairman of Nasarawa Local Government, he was invited and we took our position. The Chairman apologised and we pardoned him.
” The third issue is the issue of the SSA to His Excellency on Development Control where documents have been signed by him but when he appeared before the House, he denied it and we ask him to step aside for thorough investigation.
“I deem it fit to make some of these clarifications because people misconstrued what the assembly is doing.
” What we are doing is within the constitution and we are exercising our constitutional rights,” he said.
The speaker also disclosed that chairmen of the various House Committees would in the next two weeks embark on an oversight function to Ministries, Agencies and Departments( MDAs) in order to assess the level of the 2020 budget performance.
