New Swat Team Will Work Effectively, In Line With Best Practices- Police Affairs Minister

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi has assured Nigerians that the New Special Weapons and Tactics, SWAT Team will function effectively in line with international best practices

He stated this when he visited the Police Mobile Force Training College Ende Hills where the SWAT team is currently undergoing training. Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe was there on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Sule.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi who said his visit to the Police Mobile Force Training College Ende Hills was to see first-hand how the men and women of the Police Force are training for the Special Weapons and Tactics, SWAT programme.

While thanking the Government and people of Nasarawa State for providing the Police with the training ground, the Minister expressed optimism that the training will make participants perform better in their task of protecting and securing lives and property of citizens.

According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari is desirous of reforming the Police Force which is why his administration apart from directing State Governments to constitute Panels of Inquiry to bring to book culprits of brutality and extra judicial killings among the police has ordered a review of their salaries including those of other security agencies.

He used the medium to appeal to Nigerians to give the nation’s president time to implement all the demands put forward to reform the police force, just as he implored the new SWAT team to be professional in conduct and not renege in carrying out their task in accordance with democratic tenets.

Satisfied with the conduct of the SWAT training, Governor Abdullahi Sule whom the state Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe stood in for sued for corporation and support of citizens to the Nigeria Police Force. He said citizens should expect a more profe.
