COVID 19: NSSG To Upgrade Clinics Of All State Owned Tertiary Institutions
In his determination to provide a quality Healthcare service delivery and to curtail the spread of Covid-19 among the Students of higher institutions and its communities, the Nasarawa State Government is to Upgrade all the Tertiary Institutions Clinics to standard that will provide good services to the people.
He stated this while declaring a one day engagement training workshop of Infection, Prevention and Control on Covid-19 to all Tertiary Institutions in the State held at Nasarawa State University Assembly Hall, Keffi.
The Hon. Commissioner of Health Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya ably represented by the Director Public Health and Incidence Manager Nasarawa State Emergency Operation Centre Dr. Ibrahim Adamu has charged the participants to observe all the Covid-19 preventive protocol to mitigate the spread of the virus especially in the school environment where there are flux of people. He said we must take precaution to stay safe.
He admonished the staff of tertiary institutions to sensitize their coworkers and students on the lessons learnt as well as to observed all preventive measures which includes, regular hands washing, using soap and running water, use alcohol-based sanitizer, face masks, temperature check, when coughing and sneezing cover your mouth and nose with flexed elbow, avoid crowd and stay at home if you are seek, never touch your face with unclean hands and always observe social distancing at all time were among others.
He urged them to avoid myth about COVID-19 rather, he said COVID-19 is real and deadly disease as such, we must stand to fight the scourge together for the good of all.
He further explained that some of the signs and symptoms of Covid-19 to include fever, cough, and loss of small, loss of taste, weakness and difficulty in breathing were among others.
In their separate remarks the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Prof, Ibrahim Haruna of Nasarawa State University Keffi and Medical Director College of Education Akwanga Mrs. Talatu waya thanked and commended the Nasarawa State Government for providing the skills and knowledge of the basic methods to be use on Infection, Prevention and Control of Covid-19 protocol in preparation to the opening of tertiary institutions in the State.
They said lessons learnt will be properly put to use not only the participants but will be transmitted to the entire school communities.
Similarly, the training workshops took place at Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, College of Agriculture, Lafia respectively
The training features demonstration on regular hand washing using running water and soap, use of alcohol-based sanitizer were among others basic skills of the training workshop.
