How I Was Honoured By Petroleum Equalization Fund (PEF) For My Meritorious Service
By Yusufu Shehu Usman
It was a re Union and a day of immense happiness for the petroleum Equalization fund family last night at the NICON luxury hotel Abuja as the new Executive Secretary of the fund brought together all staff present and former, to re unite on a night that was specially set aside to recognise and honour staff who over the years, have contributed to the success, growth and development of the organization.
The night linked in a family reunion, foundation staff, staff of second and third generations of the PEF to interact, interface and get to know each other.
I belong to the second generation of staff who served from 1997 to 2001. I served as Board Secretary \ Legal Adviser and also had a stint in the operation department as Zonal Manager in charge of Kano, Kaduna and Suleja deports before honourably resigning my appointment to head for the Law School as Pioneer Dep Director of Administration in charge of Enugu campus in 2001.
I had the opportunity last night to interact with the Chairman of the Board and re unite with the new Executive Secretary whom we worked closely together as colleagues from 1997.
We had a sumptuous dinner which was attended by my family including my grand children and it was indeed a night to remember.
The highlight of the event was the award ceremony. I was one of the retired staff recognised and honoured with an award for excellent service to the petroleum Equalization fund Management Board and to top it and add ice on the cake, the Board showered on me a very big gift which I publicly acknowledge and appreciate. Pictures of the event will follow later. I feel loved and appreciated by an organization I served about twenty years ago – recognising and honouring me at this point in time and very long after I left the service, is an emotional and nostalgic feeling. My family and I were simply overwhelmed. It’s a day I can’t forget in a hurry
