Nasarawa State In Safe Hands With Sule, Speaker Balarabe- Says NSHA Chair On Information
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has called for effective partnership between government and the journalists in the state for peace and speedy development.
Hon. Mohammed Adamu Omadefu (APC Keana), Chairman, House Committee on Information who stated this when he paid a visit to the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) press centre in Lafia, today said the state is in safe hands with Governor Abdullahi Sule and the Speaker of the state assembly Rt.Hon.Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi hence the need for his call.
Omadefu disclosed that his visit was an earlier directive by the speaker to assess the state of facilities at the N.U.J Press Center while assuring members of the pen profession of the state assembly’s support.
He urged them to keep doing their best in promoting good governance and quality representation of the sixth assembly of the state as well as enhance their partnership and support for the government of Engr.Abdullahi Sule to succeed.
He assured the executive members of N.U.J that the challenges raised by its chairman will be addressed soon by God’s grace.
“You Will recalled that when you paid us a courtesy visit at the assembly,Mr Speaker has directed me to visit the press centre in respect to the issues you raised and to enable me see things for myself and report back to the house accordingly,this is what informed the visit.
“Thank God we have a listening Governor and you the journalists are living witness to his good works,we still appreciate God for giving us a pragmatic leader at the house,the Speaker is a man of peace,matured mind and inclusiveness,they both are two sides of a coin,I will report to the Speaker and we will do our best for you and the leadership of the house will appeal to our amiable Governor to intervene in your challanges.The lawmaker said.
In his opening speech, the Chairman of N.U.J, Comrade Saluhu Alkali of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Precious FM,Lafia thanked Gov. Abdullahi Sule, Rt. Hon. Balarabe Abdullahi, the chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Omadefu as well as the entire assembly members for their support.
He also appreciated them for their immense contribution to journalism profession in the state,and their various efforts in bettering the lots of the citizens of the state and reassured of NUJ support to the government at all times to succeed.
” I thank Governor Abdullahi Sule and the leadership of the Assembly in their bid to reshaping the face of media profession in the state.
” I appeal for your continued contribution for the betterment of good governance and journalism in the state ” he said.
Alkali made a request to the State Assembly to support N.U.J with a brand new Bus and to support in building their accommodation which work has already started at the press centre.
