Nasarawa Police Command To Enforce Full Compliance Of COVID 19 Safety Protocols
Nasarawa Police Command said it will ensure full enforcement of the Covid-19 Health Protection Regulations 2021. A press statement signed by PPRO ASP Ramhan Nensel stressed that the state commissioner of police CP Bola Longe warned police personnel against extorting the citizenry, stressing that Area commanders, Head of departments and Divisional Police Officers should take note of orders.
The commissioner of police, CP Bola Longe further ordered all Area commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of department in the Police command to carryout full enforcement of the Corona virus Disease (COVID-19) Health Protection Regulations 2021 signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, on 26th January,2021. The statement also said the police commissioner charge all the personnel to ensure full compliance with the Regulation in their respective areas of responsibilities but, warned that, the enforcement must not be used as an avenue for extortion as any officer found flouting this directive would be sanctioned accordingly.
The Commissioner of Police gave the directives on Monday February 1st, 2021 at the State Police Command Headquarters, Lafia during a briefing of senior Police officers, Heads of department and Divisional Police Officers following the signing into law of the Corona virus Disease (COVID-19) Health Protection Regulation 2021 which mandated the Nigeria Police and other agencies of Government mentioned therein to ensure full enforcement of the regulations in public places, places of worship, work place and schools, Banks, public transport vehicles, Markets, Film hall, Shopping mall etc and general restrictions on large gatherings as well as the use of Face mask.
The Commissioner of Police, while noting that the uncertainty and risk engendered by the advent of COVID-19 Pandemic have placed additional responsibilities on the general public, called on residents of the state to voluntarily comply with the provisions of the Regulations for the safety of all.
Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police cautions officers to be tactful, show compassion and empathy with the citizenry while discharging their duty. He reiterates that the officers must be firm and professional and at the same time be polite, civil and respect the fundamental rights of all and sundry.
