The Police in New Karu Division of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a fake military officer named Nasiru Ahmed who used to dupe, harass and intimidate P.O. S operators in Karu local government council. He is described by the Police as a notorious criminal and serial fraudster.

Speaking through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Ramhan Nansel, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe in a press release said that the 32-year-old suspect usually dressed in full military camouflage uniform of the Nigeria Navy “then approaches Point of Sale (P.O.S.) operators at different locations within the Karu local government area under the guise of conducting transactions and send in fake bank alerts into their mobile phones in lieu of cash”

“Furthermore, the suspect in most cases intimidate/harass and assault the P.O.S. operators whenever they complain about the money given to him not reflecting in their bank accounts”.

According to CP Longe, during a search of the suspect’s house, two sets of Navy uniforms and boots, one set of knee guard and a dagger were found. The Police said that Nasiru Ahmed confessed that he used these for his nefarious activities.

The suspect has been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigations.
