The Nasarawa State House of Assembly says on Monday that the All Progressives Congress ( APC) will reclaim other opposition states in the country in future elections if Sen. UmarTanko Al- Makura emerged the National Chairman of the party in its forthcoming convention.
Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House stated this during a press conference organized by Progressives for Umar Tanko Al-Makura for APC National Chairman in Lafia, today Monday.
The Speaker who was represented by the Majority Leader of the House Hon. Umar Tanko Tunga said that Al-Makura won his Governorship seat under the platform of Congress for Progressives Congress ( CPC), in 2011, the party that has no councillorship seat in the country then.
” It is CPC that produced Sen. Tanko Al–Makura in 2011, a new party then, that has no full structure on ground.
” it was that Almakura’s, CPC that merged with other Political parties to form the All Progressives Congress ( APC) and it was the party that won presidential election in 2015.
” If Sen Umar Tanko Al–Makura is elected as the National Chairman of APC, the party will take over the whole country in future elections, ” he said.
Balarabe- Abdullahi has assured Sen. Umar Tanko Al–Makura of their support at all times to enable him succeed.
He has urged Nigerians to support the aspiration of Sen. Umar Tanko Al–Makuraw to lead the party and to take it to greater height.
The speaker has also called on Nigerians to continue to support the APC government at all levels to succeed.
Earlier, Hon. Makpa Malla, Convener, Progressives for Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has appealed to Nigerians to support Al- Makura to become the next chairman of the party.
” We are appealing to the entire leadership structure of our great party that in it’s much anticipated guideline for the forthcoming Extra-ordinary National Convention, to consider zoning the office of the national chairman of the party to the north central, due to the strategic position the zone occupies in the political permutation of the country.
” Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, is not only a son of Nasarawa, he is also a nationalist and an institution whose legacies and achievements in leadership are worthy of replication on a wider scale.
” It is on this note that a larger platform as “National Party Administration” must be viewed as an apt opportunity for Almakura’s gifts and capabilities to be tapped into and experienced for the greater benefit of the APC at all levels, its growth and entrenchment in the country at large.
” We therefore reiterate strongly that an Al-Makura chairmanship of the APC, holds much good for the party’s fortunes come 2023 and going forward,” he said.
The convener has appreciated party stakeholders and other well wishers for supporting the aspiration of the senator and called for its sustenance untill victory is won.
It was reported that the event had in attendance the State Chairman Dr John Maman who led other party executives, Hon. Tanko Tunga, the majority leader led all the Twenty APC lawmakers in the state to the occasion which was well attended.
