Nasarawa Police Recount Gains In 2021

The Nasarawa State Police Command has recounted its achievements during the out gone year, 2021. It stated that over 1,000 suspects were arrested during the year. They included 104 kidnappers, 309 cultists, 25 internet fraudsters a.k.a. yahoo yahoo boys, 61 rapists, 102 armed robbers, 50 rail track/sleepers vandals.

A Press Release by the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi, signed by the Command’s public relations officer, ASP Ramhan Nansel attributed the successes recorded in 2021 to the state government’s support, “reinvigorated police community mechanism, visibility policing approach by the Commissioner of Police, strict adherence to the ethics of the Force, synergy with sister security agencies and working in tandem with the directives and guidance of the Inspector General of Police Alkali Baba Usman.

The statement read in full: “The Nasarawa State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Adesina Soyemi in its drive to safe guard the lives and property of the good people of Nasarawa State, thereby creating a peaceful environment for businesses to thrive, recorded a lot of successes against crime and criminal practitioners in the State. The successes so far recorded which have led to drastic reduction of crime in the State were made possible due to the untiring support of the State government, reinvigorated community policing mechanism, the visibility policing approach of the Commissioner of Police, strict adherence to the ethics of the Force, synergy with sister security agencies and working in tandem with the directives and guidance of the Inspector general of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman psc (+), NPM, fdc.

“From January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021 tremendous successes were recorded by the State Police Command as follows: Number of suspected Kidnappers arrested – 104; number of armed robbery suspects arrested – 102; number of suspected cultists arrested – 309;
number of rail track/sleepers vandals arrested – 50; number of rape suspects arrested – 61; number of Indian hemp dealers arrested – 2; number of bags of Indian hemp recovered – 38; number of Internet fraudsters arrested – 25; number of suspects arrested for culpable homicide – 37; number of firearms recovered – 82; number of ammunition recovered – 1,116; number of Vehicles recovered – 11; number of Laptops recovered – 24; number of motor cycles recovered – 45; number of tricycles recovered – 12; suspects arrested for other sundry offences – 475.

Total number of suspects arrested – 1,165.

“In view of the foregoing, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi hereby thanks members of the public for their support and solicits for more collaboration in the new year as the Police Command will not relent on its oars in crime fighting in order to reduce it to its barest minimum”.
