Nasarawa State Civil Service Commission has commenced the screening of casual staff working in Government Ministries, Parastatals and Agencies in the state, with a view to absorbing them into the mainstream of state civil service.
The screening exercised was aimed among other things, to enable the Commission know the efficiency and effectiveness of engaged casual staff in their respective MDAs in the state as well as their employment status.
Speak to the team of Journalists in his office Yesterday, the Chairman Civil Service Commission, Nasarawa State, Musa Dangana Giza, said the screening exercise was in furtherance of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi. Sule ‘s commitment to give the casual workers permanent and pensionable appointments so as to enable them growth in service.
Dangana explained that, during the screening, the Commission would look at the age, their casual appointments letters and other criterias dim fit for the Commission, so as to ensure that only genius casual staff get the permanent and pensionable appointments.
He assured that, all the casual staff working in the Ministries and Extral Ministerial Departments in the state would be absorb into the mainstream of civil service, saying their appointments would be given by phases.
To this end, the Chairman said, the Commission would first considered casual staff that have worked for long time in their respective MDAs to be given appointments before others, stressing that the Commission was looking at other ways to help those casual staff who were either 50 years and above, whom he said they might not enjoying the pensions after retirement.
He maintained that, after the screening exercise, about 500 casual workers would be given out permanent and pensionable appointments for the first phased, saying subsequently, other casual staff would also received their appointments letters.
The CSC boss announced that, the Commission would soon commence the sale of recruitment forms to eligible applicants of citizens of Nasarawa States to be employed in relevance areas, and commended Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for approving employment opportunities to the teaming applicants in the state.
