Naira Scarcity: Gov Sule Directs Immediate Distribution Of Food Items To Less Privileged

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Sule has directed for the immediate commencement of the distribution of rice, spaghetti, noddles and Maggi across all the 13 LGAs and 18 Development Areas, as palliative to cushion the hardships being experienced as a result of the cash swap policy.

Engineer Sule issued the directive during a meeting with local government chairmen, State Working Committee of the APC and Engr. A. A Sule coordinators, at the Government House, on Wednesday.

The Governor directed that, each local government and development area will receive 1000 bags of rice (10kg), as well as unspecified quantity of spaghetti, noodles and Maggi, for onward distribution to less privileged people who may be finding it difficult to access money to buy food.

The gesture is part of the decision taken by governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in their bid to alleviate the plight of the less privileged members of the society, even as the governors strategize towards finding a solution to the problems associated with the cash swap policy of the Federal Government.

Engineer Sule further directed the office of the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, to immediately commence the distribution by making the items available for the local chairman and officials of the party from Toto and Nasarawa Local Government Areas.

He however cautioned the officials against diverting the palliative but to ensure the food items get to those who are in dire need because of the scarcity of money.

The Governor said the gesture, which was a collective decision of the APC governors, is mostly out of humanitarian concerns and not necessarily to score cheap political gains.

Engineer Sule used the opportunity of the meeting to present the flag of the party to Hon. Abdulmumini Mohammed Ari, who emerged candidate of the party for Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency, following the recent Supreme Court judgement.
