The Nasarawa state Government has reacted to insinuations making the rounds in some social media platforms to the effect that Engineer Abdullahi Sule hates Migili people. A statement issued in Lafia Thursday and signed by the media aide to governor Alh. Ali Abare indicated thus: The attention of the Office of the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, has been drawn to a message circulating on social media, written by a group known as the Migili Concerned Group, wherein it was alleged that the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule hates the Migili tribe.
The message, which was signed by the publicity committee of the group, went ahead to list perceived reasons why Engineer Sule hates the Migili people, to include that they are mostly Christians, as well as that His Excellency removed Mighili sons and daughters from important positions as chief Executives, among other reasons.
For the avoidance of doubt, all the allegations contained in the message are not only unfounded, false but a total negation of the existing reality, as far as the administration of His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule is concerned.
Since his assumption of office on May 29, 2019, His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule has been running an all inclusive government, predicated on the principles of fairness, justice, equity and equality to all the citizens of the state irrespective of ethnic or religious colouration.
In fact, the claim that Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule hates the Migili people because they are Christians, is most uncharitable to the person of His Excellency, who has demonstrated uncommon affinity to both Christianity and Christians. This is a Governor that is using every given opportunity to thank the Church for giving him the chance to be educated starting from his primary school to his university.
In the area of appointment, the Migili Concerned Group, needs to be reminded that, His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, in his inclusiveness, has ensured that every ethnic group in Nasarawa State is carried along.
In his characteristic neutrality, His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, has allowed the process of the selection of most government appointees to be decided by stakeholders from across the various local governments, in the true spirit of democracy.
Certainly, because of the agitation for political office from the diverse people and communities making up the state, it should be understood that, as some time, the positions available may not be sufficient enough and that there is the need to revolve these positions in order that everybody is carried along.
As far as the Migili people of Nasarawa State are concerned, the administration of His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule has demonstrated equity and fairness in the appointment of Migili sons and daughters into key government establishments.
On this note, the Migili Concerned Group needs to be reminded that, His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule appointed several of their sons and daughters to serve in his administration. These individuals have been trusted to run critical institutions like the Nasarawa Geographic Information Service (NAGIS), which is the highest revenue generating organ in the state, where Mr Sonny Agassi is the Director General.
Other key appointments held by Migili sons include and is not limited to the Surveyor General of the state, Chairman of the Governing Council, College of Education Akwanga, Chairman, Obi Local Government Area, Overseer, Jenkwe Development Area, as well as member of the Nasarawa State Christian Welfare Board.
Thus, with all the Migili sons and daughters serving under His administration, there is no iota of truth in the group’s claim suggesting that His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule hates the Migili people.
His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule was elected Governor to serve all the people of the state, irrespective of tribe or religion. And it’s on this note that the general public and especially, the good people of Nasarawa State are called upon to disregard the claims by the Migili Concerned Group.
His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule does not segregate whatsoever in his appointments but tries as much as possible to run an all inclusive government devoid of selectivity or preference, in order for all and sundry to benefit from the dividends of democracy his administration is working tirelessly to bring to the state.
