The Chairman Nasarawa State Local Government Service Commission Barr. Muhammad Sani Bawa, has commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for lifting an embargo on training of local government staff across the state. Sani Bawa who gave the commendation while receiving the delegation from the Federal Ministry Of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Abuja, in his office, in Lafia on Thursday, described
the visit to the Commission as timely, saying that the Federal Ministry of Special Duties was an important ministry in-charge of all national resources and security matters in the federation.
Barr. Muhammad Sani Bawa, who
explained that the primary responsibility of the Commission is to organize Trainings, Workshops, Seminars and In-service training, as well as conducting re-cruitments, confirmations, promotions, retirement including disciplinary measures provided in the scheme of service, however
added that, Nasarawa State is the highest salary paid state in the whole north central States. While describing the challenges being faced by the commission to include: insufficient funds to tackle staff welfare including pensions and gratuities, however appealed for improvement in the monthly subvention from the federation account
The chairman also expressed the readiness of the Commission to receive and deliberate with any Federal Government Ministries, Agencies, Board and Parastatas on matters of public interest for the overall development of Nasarawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
