Senator Wadada: The Beacon Of Hope For Nasarawa State

BY RAYYANU BALA                                               Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, from whatever angle you look at him, is one person who adores the political landscape of Nasarawa State, making him to attract both friends and foes from within the political arena and outside. Again, one thing that one cannot deny about Senator Wadada, even if you are his foe, is his simplicity, compassion and his ability to differentiate his right hand from the left. Yes, in Nigeria today there are some politicians who cannot, even by imagination, demarcate their right from the left. To this category of politicians, both the right and the left are the same, so anything that comes their way, either legitimately or illegitimately, conventionally or unconventionally, morally or immorally, they will have no worry grabbing it. But Senator Wadada is not this type of politician. Wadada’s history is replete with instances of decency and compassion. His life is also full of righteousness and transparency, as well as the ability to run away from immorality and illegitimate ways and means of doing things. It was indeed precisely these character traits that Senator Wadada brought to bear in his political career. It was also precisely this humbleness that constitutes factors behind his success in not only his political vocation but his entire life. While it is true that politics is but a dirty game to some politicians; pursuing it is a matter of dead or alive, but to Senator Wadada, politics is but a decent game that isn’t worth the blood of anybody. This explains why through out his campaigns, either the one conducted when he was campaigning for the House of Representatives between 2003 to 2007 and between 2007 to 2011 or the one conducted when he was aspiring to become the governor in 2019 and even the one conducted in 2023 when he was campaigning to become a Senator, all these were conducted not only in a rancur-free manner but were conducted in a civilized way devoid of all forms of primitivities. It is therefore preposterous for one to begin to attribute some negative thoughts against Senator Wadada. It is indeed high time we start to view Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada from a positive perspective. The people of Nasarawa West can attest to the fact that Senator Wadada Has and is dedicating his life to serving them, putting their needs above his own. It is an understatement to say that Senator Wadada’s empathy and compassion know no bounds, as he shows kindness and understanding to those in need, as well as inspiring hope and trust to all around him. Senator Wadada is working day in and day out to build a better future for the citizens of Nasarawa State, regardless of tribe and religion. The efforts he puts on the floor of the Senate towards the betterment of the people of Nasarawa State are shining examples of who Senator Wadada is. He remains true to his values. He refused to compromise his principles for personal gains, especially with the seat he is chairing, the Senate committee on public accounts. This committee is by no means a locrative one, but Senator Wadada, instead of taking advantage of the committee to better his bank accounts, decides to use the seat to better the lots of entire citizens of Nasarawa State. Only last week, social media was awash with stories of how Senator Wadada used his committee at the Senate to ensure fast tracking of the conversion of Dalhatu Arafat Specialist Hospital, Lafia, to Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia. We all saw how he, along with Mohammed Ali Pate, Minister of Health, met the Emir of Lafia Justice Sidi Muhammad Bage (retired) in Abuja and handed over formally the certificate of the teaching hospital to him.  At the risk of being immodest, Senator Wadada has demonstrated through out his stay at the House and now the Senate the power of dedication, hard work, and a heart that truly cares. What is more, Senator Wadada, without fear of being contradicted, remains steadfast in his commitments to serve even in these challenging times. By focusing on Senator Wadada’s positive aspect, we can appreciate the significant contribution he is making to the citizens of Nasarawa State. As he is preparing to throw himself once again into the contest of governorship of Nasarawa state come 2027, we must pose and throw all sentiments aside. Think of the positive aspect of Senator Wadada, who at this time remains the only beacon of hope for Nasarawa state.
