Senator Wadada Urges Journalists To Use Sports As Tool For Unity In Nasarawa State

Distinguished Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has called on journalists in Nasarawa State, particularly members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), to harness the power of sports in fostering unity among the people of the state.

The senator made this appeal during an interactive session with SWAN officials and members in Lafia on Friday. Emphasizing the unifying potential of sports, Senator Wadada encouraged media practitioners to promote narratives that strengthen social cohesion across ethnic and religious lines.

“As sports journalists, you have a unique platform to bridge divides and promote peace through your coverage and commentary,” Wadada stated.

The lawmaker, who is also a leading aspirant in the 2027 Nasarawa State gubernatorial race, pledged his support to SWAN’s initiatives aimed at boosting sports development across the state. He also condemned the increasing trend of using ethnicity and religion as tools for political division ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wadada urged his supporters to maintain peace and maturity in the political process. “We are not desperate in our quest to run for the governor of our great state. I urge my supporters to go about their activities with decorum and resist any attempt to react to any form of provocation,” he said.
