Rejoinder: Reaffirming Unity, Leadership, And Strategic Political Vision In Nasarawa APC

By Yakubu Ango

The recent publication titled “Betrayal from Within: Hon. Aliyu Bello and the Governor Undermine APC Loyalty in Nasarawa State” is not only misleading but also laden with baseless accusations aimed at causing disunity and stoking internal discord within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State.

It is important to begin by stating unequivocally that Hon. Aliyu Bello, the APC State Chairman, and His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, have consistently demonstrated firm commitment to the ideals, values, and strategic interests of the APC. The insinuation that they are undermining party loyalty or fraternizing with opposition elements is not only inaccurate but a deliberate misrepresentation of ongoing political dynamics.

In hindsight, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a member of the APC, yet he is closely aligned with Wike of the PDP. He even appointed Wike as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and placed him in the strategic Ministry of the FCT. Similarly, in 2023, Senator Wadada, despite being in the SDP, campaigned vigorously for Engineer Abdullahi Sule of the APC.

So the question is: why didn’t the same people who are making noise today stop Senator Wadada back then? In addition to these, Engr. Abdullahi Sule appointed—and later reappointed—Dr. Faisal’s wife, Munirat Shuaibu Faisal. She is now openly campaigning for her husband both within and outside the cabinet, yet no one has raised any concerns or accused Engr. Abdullahi Sule of siding with Dr. Faisal.

Equally noteworthy are the political activities surrounding the current Accountant General, Ahmed Mohammad. It is widely known that he is eyeing the top seat in the state, although he has not publicly declared his ambition. Despite the presence of his billboards and posters everywhere, no one has accused the governor of backing him or insinuated any bias.

Additionally, Barrister Abdullahi Mohammad, a former minister, has a Nephew Barrister Ibrahim Abdullahi who holds a key position in Engr. Sule’s administration, yet this has not attracted scrutiny either.

As for the former IGP, he only recently registered as a member of the APC barely two weeks ago, even though Engr A. A. Sule appointed his younger brother Barrister Muhammad Aliyu Under as SSG and his Biological son was ADC to Engr. A. A. Sule for six years all through the influence of the Rtd. IGP.
This raises the question of what contributions he has made to the party to deserve such recognition or attention.,
Ironically, all these people that are creating these Insinuations are the same individuals who abandoned the APC and Governor Abdullahi Sule during the party’s time of need. It was Aliyu Bello who stood firm—he remained the last man standing when it mattered most.
As Chairman, Hon. Aliyu Bello has worked tirelessly to strengthen the APC’s base across Nasarawa State. His approach has been inclusive, focused on unity, and driven by the desire to consolidate the party’s hold ahead of future electoral contests. Reaching across political divides should not be mis-characterized as disloyalty; rather, it is a strategic necessity in a pluralistic democracy. Building bridges—even with those outside the party—is essential for peace, development, and a broader political consensus.

Similarly, the Governor has never wavered in his loyalty to the APC. His leadership has brought tangible development to the state and widened the APC’s appeal to diverse constituencies. His interactions with non-APC figures are borne out of his role as a Governor for all citizens of Nasarawa State, not just APC members. That should not be misconstrued as betrayal—it is governance in action.

The claims about the Governor and the APC Chairman allegedly endorsing Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada are speculative at best and politically motivated. While it is true that Senator Wadada enjoys significant grassroots support, any reference to him as a potential gubernatorial candidate remains within the realm of political discourse. It does not equate to an official endorsement or a betrayal of APC loyalists.

The leadership of the party we believe will continues to appreciate and acknowledge the steadfast contributions of dedicated APC members such as Dr. Faisal, Alh. Habu Giza, Hon. Abubakar Nalaraba, Rtd IGP Abubakar Adamu and many others. The insinuation that these individuals are being sidelined is unfounded and speaks more to the personal grievances of a few than the collective reality within the party.

Internal disagreements are a part of any democratic structure, but they must be addressed with decorum and truth, not with accusations and divisive rhetoric. If the APC is to maintain its strength and electoral dominance in 2027 and beyond, it must do so through cohesion, strategic outreach, and responsible leadership—not factionalism and public condemnation of its leaders.
We therefore urged members and Supporters of APC in Nasarawa state to reject attempts to sow division and instead rally behind the leadership of Hon Aliyu Bello and Governor Abdullahi sule whose experience, vision and dedication remain vital to the future of our great party.
