Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada (Sarkin Yakin Keffi) today embarked on a working visit to the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) of Nasarawa State University, Keffi—an institution that is fast emerging as a hub for innovation, skill development, and enterprise.
Welcomed warmly by the Director of the Centre, Professor Rashidah Funke Olanrewaju, the visit marked a significant moment in the university’s journey toward becoming a breeding ground for practical education and entrepreneurial growth. Senator Wadada, known for his grassroots-oriented approach and progressive vision, came not only to observe but to engage, evaluate, and offer support.
Speaking during the visit, Senator Wadada highlighted the vital role the EDC plays in shaping the future of young Nigerians. “This centre symbolizes a bold vision for our youth. It empowers them to be solution providers and innovators,” he remarked. “What we see here today is a model for how tertiary institutions can bridge the gap between academia and enterprise.”
With over 40 skill acquisition programs spanning sectors such as agribusiness, ICT, fashion, renewable energy, and media, the EDC is quickly establishing itself as a key pillar in Nasarawa State’s development agenda. The Senator’s tour of the Centre wasn’t just symbolic; it was an affirmation of his belief in practical solutions to unemployment and underdevelopment.
He also paid a glowing tribute to Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the founding father of Nasarawa State University, crediting him with laying the foundation for one of the state’s most impactful institutions. “The EDC stands as a testament to that legacy,” Senator Wadada said, acknowledging the visionary strides taken in the university’s formative years.
In a strategic move to expand the Centre’s reach and relevance, Senator Wadada directed Marlony FM—a prominent radio station in the state—to launch a special programme dedicated to highlighting the Centre’s activities and successes. He believes this initiative will raise public awareness and galvanize the youth to take full advantage of the resources at their disposal.
“Our people need to hear what’s happening here. Marlony FM must champion this cause so we can build a stronger bridge between innovation and the public space,” the Senator emphasized.
The response from the EDC’s leadership was one of gratitude and enthusiasm. Professor Olanrewaju, speaking on behalf of the Centre, commended the Senator’s unrelenting support and expressed optimism that the new radio initiative would amplify their impact, attract valuable partnerships, and inspire more youths.
Senator Wadada’s visit was more than a courtesy call; it was a declaration of partnership. He committed his office and constituency to working hand-in-hand with the Centre to expand its reach and deepen its impact.
As Nasarawa State charts its course toward a future powered by innovation and inclusive development, the synergy between public leadership and educational institutions like the EDC offers a hopeful glimpse of what is possible when ideas, resources, and willpower converge.
Through strategic advocacy, institutional support, and a clear focus on human capital development, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada is helping reshape the narrative—proving that meaningful change starts with empowering people and the institutions that help their ideas come to life.
