It is God that decides who leads at a given time,— Wadada Defends Political Moves, Track Record

By Our Reporter

Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada has defended his political journey and shifting party affiliations, attributing leadership outcomes ultimately to divine will while insisting his personal record justifies his continued relevance in Nigerian politics.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Wadada emphasized that leadership is determined by God, while human efforts and track records remain visible for public judgment. He maintained that his achievements and electoral victories demonstrate his credibility and acceptance among the people.
The senator described his movements between political parties—the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP)—as a reflection of the “dynamism of life.” According to him, political decisions are often shaped by prevailing circumstances and personal interests, noting that no political party defines a politician; rather, politicians shape the strength and identity of parties.
“I have paid my dues, my record speaks for me,” Wadada stated, adding that his consistent electoral success underscores the trust reposed in him by constituents. He stressed that he fears no political opponent in Nasarawa State, citing his longstanding grassroots connection and influence.
Recounting past political contests, Wadada referenced the 2019 governorship primaries in Nasarawa State, where he competed but finished second after then-Governor Tanko Al-Makura backed Engineer Abdullahi Sule. Despite the outcome, Wadada said he was later persuaded to chair the campaign council, which ultimately delivered victory for Sule.
He also reflected on earlier setbacks, including his loss in the 2011 House of Representatives election. Wadada disclosed that between 2011 and 2023, he briefly served as Senior Special Adviser on Project Monitoring and Evaluation under former FCT Minister Bala Mohammed before resigning to focus on his private business and maintain grassroots engagement.
Wadada highlighted his political comeback in 2023, when he won a senatorial seat under the SDP, defeating candidates from the ruling APC at the time. He noted that his victory, alongside another SDP candidate, ensured the party secured two Senate seats, despite not previously having representation.
The senator concluded by reaffirming that his political journey has been shaped by resilience, public support, and faith, insisting that his influence remains significant in Nasarawa State politics.
