APC Stakeholder Backs Abdullahi Sule Over Tanko Al-Makura

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Musan Musa, has pushed back against claims by former governor Tanko Al-Makura that due process was not followed in the presentation of Senator Wadada to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Al-Makura had earlier argued that he and other stakeholders were not consulted when Governor Abdullahi Sule presented Senator Wadada at the presidency, insisting that such a move did not reflect collective party input.
However, speaking from Wamba, Musan Musa dismissed the criticism as misplaced, noting that Governor Sule, as the sitting governor and recognized leader of the APC in Nasarawa State, acted well within his authority.
“It is surprising that anyone would suggest that a serving governor should not exercise leadership or take initiative,” Musa said. “Are we saying Governor Sule should not have a mind of his own in carrying out his responsibilities?”
He stressed that leadership comes with decision-making powers, particularly in political matters involving representation at the national level. According to him, the governor’s action aligns with established political practice, where state leaders interface directly with national leadership.
Musa further questioned the basis of Al-Makura’s position asking: “Between Tanko Al-Makura and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is the national leader of the APC? And what is wrong with Governor Sule, as the state leader of the party, presenting his preferred successor  Senator Wadada to the national leader?”
He argued that the notion of “due process” in party politics should not be narrowly interpreted to stall legitimate engagements, adding that consultation, while important, does not override the constitutional and political authority of a sitting governor.
Musa concluded that Governor Sule’s actions reflect proactive leadership and should be seen as part of efforts to strengthen ties between Nasarawa State and the federal leadership under President Tinubu.
